Our partner and I came to Portugal on our honeymoon and we chose the Pousada Castelo de Obidos as our special treat. I was really looking forward to the experience, and it did disappoint! I was also delightfully surprised at how comfortable a medieval castle could be – I had my best night's sleep of the entire trip there. While the tower we stayed in didn't have much of a window, the views from the castle walls on our way to the tower were breathtaking. I can't believe how fortunate we were to be able to experience such beauty first thing in the morning. The breakfast buffet was also wonderful, with plenty of hot and cold, sweet and savoury options.

We were in the Tower Room(Rei Didis). What an experience! We will never have another like it. We are both over 65 so getting up in the middle of the night was a challenge but, by the end of our stay we were well used to negotiating the steep and narrow stairs. Service was impeccable and when we asked for glasses in our room for a bottle of wine and some cheese we had brought, we were very impressed with the extra effort to provide a corkscrew, bread/crackers and some jam. What a nice surprise! Of course the views were amazing, although we were conflicted by wanting to spend as much time in our room as possible!!

Every member of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Guireme (my apologies if the spelling is incorrect) was amazing. The waiter at the restaurant (apologies I don't know his name) took the time to print us an English bus schedule for our next leg to Lisbon. This trip was a 40th anniversary trip after a very difficult year. It exceeded every expectation and I cannot find the words to express how magical this place really is. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was one of the best meals we have had so far in Portugal. Missing the castle in Obidos when in Portugal would be a shame in my opinion.

Got a great price because of "genius" points and time of year. Very helpful and accommodating staff - picked us up at bus station and dropped us back there when we left. Served us lovely cherry liquor during check-in. Perhaps most comfortable bed and pillows we've ever had. Charming room with lovely view of historic wall. Lovely courtyard with tables where we had our picnic lunch. Breakfast was very extensive and delicious and staff very attentive. Located in heart of old town with shops, restaurants and historic sites at doorstep.

Renee

The staff in the restaurant were exceptional and really made us feel very welcome and provided excellent service. Joao Pinho and Leandro Rojas were the above mentioned professionals who did a great job! Also thanks to the chef as the food was fantastic! After sending the intermediary feedback after the first night of our stay - our issues were clearly heard and actioned and well managed.
